Zoo is one of the things that we let out on our travels, because we are not excited about seeing the animals behind the fence. So if is possible we prefer to see them in their natural invirnment. But during our stay in Prague, we decided to add the zoo to the list of visit, because as many people say, it is wonderful. So we used the last day in Prague to see the zoo.
How to get to the zoo?
We came there with the metro C (red line) and the final station is Nadraži Holešovice. Outside metro station is bus station where you catch the bus number 112 which drivrs to the zoo. It is recommeded that you go there in the early hours because you can avoid the crowds (especially for holidays and weekends). The zoo has three etrances, which is good to know. We left the bus at the main entrace and the crowd of people was at least 150 meters long. When we were almost determined to go back, we found on the internet that the zoo has 3 entrances. At the next entrance the crowd of people was a lot shorter.
7th most beautiful zoo in the world
The Prague Zoo is definitely the most beautiful zoo ever visited. Zoo is considered the most beautiful zoo in Europe and the 7th most beautiful in the world. It is located on the slopes of the hill above the Vltava River, which is now located on 47 hectares, and it contains more than 700 different animal representatives. Zoo was opened in Prague in 1931. In 2002, the Zoo was hit by a terrible flood, when Vltava flooded more than half of it. They had to evacuate more than 1,000 animals, which was also the largest evacuation of all time.
Zoo is huge and if you get too tired, you can also take a tour by zoo train and if you are not in the mood to climb up the hill, you can also take a chair lift to the top.
There is also a good supply of food and drink, which is not overly expensive. In the zoo you can find bars, restaurants, fast food and snack kiosks. For a hot dog it will be necessary to deduct 2 €, and also for the waffle lubricated with Nutella. For admission, adults will deduct 200 CZK, children between 3 and 15 years old 100 CZK, children till the age of three will have free entry.
p.s. Do not miss a show with a seals during the visit
